Aug 13, 2025
If you've ever dreamed about working with dogs, building a career rooted in compassion and science, or expanding your current role in the pet industry, Dogma Academy’s Dogma Dog Trainer (DDT) program could be your perfect next step.
Created for those who want to make a difference in the lives of dogs and their people, without diving into complex behaviour cases, this comprehensive certification equips you with everything you need to launch a successful, rewarding career as a dog trainer.
Whether you're a dog walker, pet sitter, groomer, daycare professional, or passionate dog enthusiast ready to take the leap, the DDT program is designed to get you career-ready, fast.
What is the DDT Program?
The DDT (Dogma Dog Trainer) program is a comprehensive, practical certification for individuals who want to start working as professional dog trainers but don’t plan to take on behaviour modification or complex behavioural cases, yet.
You’ll gain in-depth knowledge in foundational training, canine communication, and real-world problem-solving, and graduate with the confidence, credentials, and support you need to run group classes, work one-on-one with clients, and start your professional career.
It’s also ideal for those already working with dogs in other roles, like grooming, boarding, or walking, who want to deepen their skills and offer more value to their clients.
Why Choose the DDT?
Your Foundation for a Rewarding Career
The DDT program is the essential first step toward becoming a certified professional dog trainer and it lays the groundwork for advanced behaviour consulting. It’s the starting point for our full DCBC designation and includes everything you need to work with puppies, teach group classes, and support families with real-life training needs.

Mentorship That Lasts
You’re never on your own. From day one, you’ll be supported by Dogma’s certified training team through mentor hours, skill reviews, and a private online community. Best of all? You retain access even after you graduate, so support is always there as you build your career.
